Mohammad Mainasara Ahmad
Mohammad Mainasara Ahmad was born on the 1st of January, 1965 to the family of late Alhaji Ahmadu Gidadawa and late Hajiya Ummul-Khair in the Sokoto North Local Government Area of Sokoto State. He attended his primary school in Gusau and Sokoto from 1970 to 1977, and Ahmadu Bello Academy, Farfaru Sokoto from 1977-1982. He went to the former State College of Arts and Science, Sokoto from 1982 to 1985 and obtained an update in ‘O’ Levels Certificate (IJMB).
He proceeded to the University of Sokoto (now Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto) and graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) Political Science and Administration in 1988.
He attended the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) in the former Bendel State with his primary assignment at Delta State Steel Company, Aladja, Warri.
He re-joined the Local Government Service on 2nd January, 1990 as an Administrative Officer on GI.08 having first gained employment in Sokoto Local Government in 1985 in the former Sokoto Local Government Council. He transferred his services as an Administrative Officer to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government/Head of Service in 1992 after a brief stint as Administrative Officer with Health Service Management Board. Between 1997 and 1998, he was also at the Usman Danfodio University for his master’s degree in Public Administration.
Mainasara has worked in various Ministries and Extra-Ministerial Departments under the Office of the Secretary to the State Government/Head of Service. These include, Hospital Service Management Board, State Civil Service Commission, Cabinet Affairs and General Services (Executive Council Division), Sokoto State House of Assembly, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Sokoto State Liaison Office, Lagos. He was appointed Permanent Secretary and was posted to the State House of Assembly as Clerk to the House from 2007-2015. He was posted to Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Sokoto as same a Permanent Secretary between 2015-2018. This is the position he held until his nomination to the Senior Executive Course 40 (2018) of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Karu.
On completion of the SEC. 40, 2018 Programme from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Karu, Jos. He was reposted back to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in January, 2019 still as a Permanent Secretary. He retired from active service on 31st December, 2019.
From the period of 1991 to date, Mainasara has participated in various leadership and professional development courses within and outside the country. He is happily married with two wives, Amina and Zainab with 13 children, 8 female and 5 males with one granddaughter. His hobbies include reading, travelling, and entrepreneurship development.
In November 2020, His Excellency, the Governor appointed him as the Honourable Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.
